Cuba on the Cusp: A trip to Cuba in 2016 introduced me to the color and warmth of the Cuban people at a moment when it seemed official relations with the US would become formalized. Until that happens, our little island neighbor is still fixed in time in the 1950s. The Cubans love music and dance and their rate of literacy is almost 100%. Healthcare, too, is outstanding. But food is still rationed. When will our neighboring island indeed become a neighbor?
